COPA ACDA FALL 2023

OFF WE GO!!!

September 16th, 2023 is marked in history as the day that this whole tournament started. All teams played in the ACDA Gym, in two separate games.

Game 1 had Club América (CA), coached by Emilio Calito, vs Strongest Potatoes FC (SPFC), coached by Enoch Pérez.

Game 2 had Ezequiel Almonte and Pollo Campero C.F. (PCCF), vs Nelson Oro’s Waterboys FC (WBFC).

REGULAR SEASON

WEEK 1: September 16th, 2023

Game 1 Club América vs Strongest Potatoes FC

Club América, lead by Nathan Osorio, took the 3 points over Strongest Potatoes FC, in a 4-1 win. Osorio displayed his scoring ability netting a hat-trick, but unfortunately received 2 yellow cards, sending him off. Club América’s captain, Leo Diaz, scored a goal, as well as Gabriel Caballero, the Captain of SPFC. Despite being sent off, Nathan Osorio took Man of the Match.

Game 2 Waterboys FC vs Pollo Campero C.F.

This game was a bit more of an even match up with Pollo Campero C.F. going into half time with a 2-1 Lead, but the win went to Waterboys FC, 4-3. Mateo Vigil scored a goal for WBFC, and their captain, Diosman Torres scored 3 goals, one of them being the winning goals, where on the opposing side, PCCF’s captain, Hector Torres, matched his brother with a hat-trick of his own. Diosman Torres took Man of the Match.

WEEK: 2 September 23, 2023

Game 1 Club América vs Pollo Campero C.F.

Hector Torres opened the scoring with 2 quick goals in the 3rd and 4th minute, but Club América came right back with Leo Diaz scoring a Free Kick in the 5th, and Amaro Auba scoring in the 6th and 7th. At the end of the first half Pollo Campero C.F. trailed by only one goal against Club América, 3-2, but at the final whistle, they realized that their opponents should be taken seriously. Auba opened the scoring in the second half with a goal in the 9th minute, followed by Diaz scoring in the same minute. Quinten Vu finished the scoring with a goal of his own in the 11th, and Club América took the win 7-2, with Leo Diaz named Man of the Match.

Game 2 Waterboys FC vs Strongest Potatoes FC

A first half ending with the score at 0-0 was turned around completely with Diosman Torres scoring in the 9th, 11th and 14th minutes, taking Waterboys FC to a 3-0 Win over Strongest Potatoes FC. Diosman Torres scores his second hat-trick, in his second game and is named Man of the Match.

WEEK 3: September 30th, 2023

Game 1 Strongest Potatoes FC vs Pollo Campero C.F.

Samuel González gives PCCF an early lead scoring in the 2nd minute, followed by Hector Torres in the 3rd, going into half time with a 2-0 lead over SPFC. Lucas Calero came back in the 10th minute scoring a Free Kick, but unfortunately, Torres came right back with 2 goals in the 11th and 12th, and an own goal by SPFC gave PCCF a 5-1 victory. Hector Torres’ hat-trick gave him Man of the Match.

Game 2 Club América vs Waterboys FC

A highly anticipated match-up between 2 undefeated teams (CA vs WBFC), would give us the first look at this rivalry to come. Amaro Auba scores in the 2nd minute and Nathan Osorio in the 4th, giving Club América a 2-0 lead going into half time. An own goal stripped Francisco Moreno of his clean sheet, but in the end, Club América continued their win streak and Waterboys FC took their first loss 2-1. Nathan Osorio took Man of the Match.

WEEK 4: October 14th, 2023

Game 1 Club América vs Pollo Campero C.F.

Nathan Osorio opens the scoring in the 4th minute, and Samuel González ties it up making the score 1-1 heading to half time. Club América scores 4 consecutive goals in the second half coming from Amaro Auba in the 8th, Nathan Osorio in the 10th, and Leo Diaz in the 11th and 12th minutes. Hector Torres scores in the in the added time to finalize the score at 5-2 with Club América continuing their win streak to 4. Nathan Osorio was named Man of the Match with 2 goals and 2 assists.

Game 2 Waterboys FC vs Strongest Potatoes FC

An early goal in the 1st minute by Diosman Torres and an unfortunate own goal by SPFC, gave Waterboys FC control of the match going into the second half, leading 2-0. A penalty awarded to SPFC brought them to within 1 goal, but their efforts weren’t enough to tie, with the game ending in a 2-1 win for Waterboys FC. Man of the Match went to WBFC Captain, Diosman Torres.

WEEK 5: October 21st, 2023

Game 1 Club América vs Strongest Potatoes FC

In a shocking start to this game, SPFC opened the scoring with a 6th minute goal from Isaac Caballero. A quick response from Leo Diaz in the 7th, tied the game 1-1 going into half time. Amaro Auba opened the second half with a goal in the 8th minute and Diaz scores his second in the 11th, giving Club América the win 3-1. Leo Diaz is given Man of the Match.

Game 2 Waterboys FC vs Pollo Campero C.F.

Due to lack of players on both sides, the WBFC vs PCCF game was cancelled.

WEEK 6: October 28th, 2023

Game 1 Strongest Potatoes FC vs Pollo Campero C.F.

Samuel González starts the game with a goal in the 1st minute, followed by Ian Matamoros in the same minute. SPFC answers with 2 goals in the 3rd and 4th, but González nets another in the 5th, and the score is 3-2 in favour of Pollo Campero C.F. going into the 2nd half. Hector Torres scores in the 10th, Followed by Matamoros in the 12th. Gabriel Caballero scores his second of the game in 14th+1 making bringing SPFC within 1 goal 4-3 with 2 minutes left of added time. An unfortunate own goal denies SPFC’s chance at a draw with PCCF winning the game 5-3. Hector Torres takes Man of the Match with a goal and 2 assists. PCCF stays a 3rd place and SPFC at 4th, going in to the playoff round.

Game 2 Club América vs Waterboys FC

Leo Diaz opens the scoring for Club América in the 2nd minute giving his team a 1-0 lead early in the game. A 6th minute yellow card to Amaro Auba gives Waterboys FC a boost which leads Diosman Torres to tie up the game in that same minute. Torres was given a yellow in the 7th minute which caused him to limit his aggressiveness for the rest of the game. The game was tied 1-1 going into the second half. In a second half filled with close calls for Diosman Torres, VAR was not going his way, keeping the game tied, until Auba gave his team the lead, 2-1 in the 14th minute with only 1 minute of added time given. With one last chance at tying the game, Torres flicks the ball past Quinten Vu who extends his arm hitting the ball, giving Waterboys FC a Free Kick in a dangerous place. The captain of Waterboys FC steps up to take the kick, and sends a rocket into the goal tying the game at the final whistle, putting an end to the winning streak which belonged Club América. Diosman Torres was awarded Man of the Match with 2 goals, one of them tying the game, and thus starts the friendly rivalry of these teams.

November 11, 2023

Game 1 Club América vs Strongest Potatoes FC

In a “winner moves on” game, Club América displayed their dominance once again against Strongest Potatoes FC. Leo Díaz scored an early goal in the 2nd minute, followed by Nathan Osorio in the 3rd and 6th. Amaro Auba received a yellow card in the 7th, then immediately scored giving his team a 4-0 lead going into half time. In the second half, Diaz scored in the 9th and Osorio in the 14th to end the game in a 6-0 victory for Club América, who advance to the final. Nathan Osorio took Man of the Match with a hat-trick.

Game 2 Waterboys FC vs Pollo Campero C.F.

Trailing his brother in the race for the Golden Boot by a goal, Diosman Torres came into the game firing on all cylinders., Scoring in the 2nd and 7th minute giving WBFC a 2-0 lead heading into the second half.. He kept his momentum going into the 2nd half, scoring in the 8th and 9th minute, tallying up to 4 goals in the game. Ian Matamoros scores in the 10th, followed by Diosman with his 5th goal in the 13th. His brother, Hector Torres scores the last goal of the game, for a total of 11 in the season, but it wasn’t enough to qualify, as Waterboys FC take the win, moving on to the Final. Man of the Match goes to Diosman Torres with 5 goals in the game.

FINAL

November 11, 2023

Game 1 Club América vs Waterboys FC

The long awaited Final featured the 2 teams everyone expected. Nathan Osorio opened the scoring with an early goal in minute 2, followed by a tying goal by Diosman Torres in the 4th minute. The game remained tied 1-1 until Osorio made it 2-1 at the end of the first half. Leo Díaz increased the lead to 3-1 in the second half at minute 10. Not long after, Torres scores back to back goals in the 11th and 12th minute, tying the game at 3 goals a piece. 7 minutes pass and the game remains tied, until Diaz scores the winning goal in minute 19, followed by a last minute goal by Osorio to win Club América the game 5-3, and the Copa ACDA trophy. Nathan Osorio was named man of the match with a hat-trick.
